Minecraft Halloween Witch Cape Spotted: What We Know

A Halloween-themed cape has appeared on a real Minecraft account before Mojang has said a word about it. Here is the evidence, what is confirmed and what is still unknown.

A new cape with a witch on it is showing up in Minecraft profile data. On October 7, 2026, a cape tracker recorded a cape it could not name on a player's account. The design is a green-faced witch in a red pointed hat. With Halloween three weeks away, collectors are already calling it the Halloween cape. Mojang has not announced it yet.

What the cape looks like

The cape has a dark brown background with a golden orange border. In the middle is a green face with dark eyes and a small smile. A red pointed hat sits on top, tilted to one side. Two small gold shapes below the face complete the design.

It is a static cape, not an animated one. Like other official capes, it also shows on elytra.

The evidence

Our team first saw the cape on October 8, when members of the cape community shared it. We then checked the public record ourselves.

  • Tracker record: the cape tracker namet.ag lists it as "Unknown Minecraft cape".
  • First seen: October 7, 2026, at 10:37 UTC.
  • Accounts with the cape: one, the player pomagam_ludza.
  • Type: cape (cloak and elytra), 1 frame (static).
  • Texture check: we compared the texture with the image shared in the community, pixel by pixel. They are identical.

Cape trackers collect data from public player profiles. A cape only appears there when it is attached to a real account. That is why this record is strong evidence that the cape exists. It does not tell us how the player got it.

What is not confirmed

The cape has no official name yet. "Halloween witch cape" is our description, not Mojang's name for it.

There is no official announcement. Mojang's October 2026 Marketplace article lists pumpkin Character Creator items, such as Pumpkin Wings and a Pumpkin Hat, but no cape. The capes Mojang is giving out right now are the Aurora Cape and the Hero Cape from the Minecraft Dungeons II promotions.

There is no way to get it yet. We know of no code, event or task that unlocks this cape today.

Why could it be on an account already?

This part is our analysis, not inside information. New capes sometimes appear on a few accounts before a public release. That can happen during testing, or when a promotion is being prepared. A Halloween design, three weeks before October 31, fits a seasonal event. It could also be given out in a very different way, or not at all.

We will update this page as soon as Mojang publishes an official name and a way to earn the cape.

Be careful with anyone selling this cape. Right now there is no official code for it. A seller cannot have a working code for a cape that has not been released. If someone offers you the Halloween witch cape today, do not pay. MC Capers does not sell this cape.

What you can do now

If you want a free cape this month, the Aurora Cape is still available until October 14. Our guide to getting Minecraft capes lists every current way to earn one.
