Aurora Cape: How to Get It Free in Minecraft Java & Bedrock

The Aurora Cape is an official Minecraft reward for Java and Bedrock Edition, announced alongside the launch of Minecraft Dungeons II. You earn it by watching a qualifying livestream, then redeem the reward code on your Minecraft account.

There are two dates to remember: October 14 is the final day of the viewing campaign in Pacific Time; October 31 is the code redemption deadline. Receiving a code and redeeming it are separate steps.

PlatformQualifying livestreamWatch time
TwitchA Partner or Affiliate streaming in the Minecraft Dungeons II categoryAt least 15 minutes
TikTokMinecraft Dungeons II content on a Game Rewards-enabled streamAt least 3 minutes

You only need one route. The Minecraft announcement describes a viewing task, with no Dungeons II purchase requirement. Owning the game is not a substitute for completing the task.

The viewing window runs from September 29, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. PT to October 14, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT. In UTC, that is September 29 at 07:00 through October 15 at 06:59. The named reward and its instructions should be visible before you spend time watching.

Get your reward from Twitch

Sign in and select an eligible Dungeons II broadcast. Check that the promotion shown is Aurora Cape. A title mentioning a cape, an old replay or an unrelated Minecraft stream is not enough to establish eligibility.

After meeting the watch requirement, follow Twitch’s reward notification and the campaign instructions to collect your code. If nothing appears, check the actual reward panel before assuming the stream counted. Keep the confirmation until redemption succeeds.

Use TikTok if the campaign is available to you

Choose a Dungeons II livestream displaying Game Rewards, then follow the Aurora quest. A normal livestream without the reward feature is not the same thing. After completing the requirement, use the reward notification to retrieve the code.

We have not verified a complete country or account-eligibility list for this campaign. If you cannot see it, check the platform’s current terms and the other official route. We do not assume that every account in every region has access.

Redeem the code on the right account

Open the official Minecraft redemption page, check the signed-in Microsoft account, and follow the Aurora Cape instructions. The code has five groups of five characters. The official page gives October 31, 2026 as the redemption deadline and identifies Xbox and PC as redemption platforms, with cross-platform use afterwards.

Do not confuse this with the end of the viewing campaign. A code saved in a notification still needs to be redeemed. We recommend completing that step promptly rather than leaving it until the final day; the page does not specify an exact cutoff time for October 31.

What the cape and elytra look like

The artwork shows a soft gradient from cyan through lilac and pink into peach, yellow and pale green, dotted with light square accents. The second promotional image shows the matching elytra appearance with a pale outline.

Redeemed successfully, but cannot see it?

First compare the Microsoft account used for redemption with the account in your game. Save the success confirmation, restart the game or launcher, and check the cape selector again.

Some players reported launch-day delays, including a cape appearing in Bedrock before Java. Others said opening Bedrock helped, while some said it did not. Those are community reports, not a confirmed explanation or an official requirement. We cannot promise an instant unlock, a fixed waiting period or a guaranteed Bedrock workaround.

If the code is rejected, recheck the entry, account and redemption location against the official instructions. If the problem continues, contact Minecraft Support with the error and confirmation. Never post an unused code publicly while asking for help.

Aurora is different from Corrupted Creeper

Both names appear around Dungeons II, but they describe different rewards. Aurora is explicitly announced for Java and Bedrock. The earlier Corrupted Creeper watch campaign was presented as a Dungeons II promotion. Use the reward’s exact name when deciding where it should appear.

See our Dungeons II cape guide for context. We have not found official confirmation that Aurora is the previously unspecified Special Cape or a reward for entering The Sift. Its published route is the viewing promotion above.
