Minecraft Dungeons II ships with five capes. Read a store page quickly and it looks like buying the biggest edition gets you the most capes in Minecraft. It does not — and that misunderstanding is worth about $20.
Mojang has confirmed exactly two capes for Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition: the Hero Cape and the Twisted Cape. We covered how to get those two as cheaply as possible — $1 and $29.99 respectively. This guide is the other three: what they are, what they cost, and why they never show up on your Minecraft account.
The sync matrix
| Cape | How it is earned | Cost | In Minecraft? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hero Cape | Play Dungeons I, sign in to Dungeons II | $1 | Yes |
| Twisted Cape | Pre-order Dungeons II (by Sept 28) | $29.99 | Yes |
| Soul Cape | Deluxe Edition | $49.99 | No |
| Corrupted Creeper | Promo events, online & offline | Free | No |
| Special Cape | Unannounced | — | No |
Soul Cape — the $20 upgrade that stays behind
Soul Cape
Mojang's line is that it is "fit for heroes brave enough to face off against creepers, zombies, and bosses infused with way too much soul power". It ships in the Deluxe bundle alongside the Blub pet, four hero skins and DLC 1 & 2.
Here is the catch. Both Standard and Deluxe include the same pre-order Twisted Cape. So the extra $20 you pay for Deluxe buys you the Soul Cape, a pet, skins and future DLC — none of which appear in Minecraft.
Dungeons II onlyCorrupted Creeper Cape — free, but you have to be in the right place
Corrupted Creeper Cape
A glowing creeper face on a deep blue sculk field. Mojang says it turns up "in various promotional activities before and around launch, both online and offline — starting in-person at Gamescom", with more events teased.
It is not for sale at any price, which makes it the most interesting of the three: distribution is event-gated, so its final population depends entirely on how many promos run and how many people show up. That is exactly the pattern that produced the rarest Minecraft capes.
Dungeons II onlySpecial Cape — teased, unexplained
Special Cape
Mojang published the render and then declined to say how it is obtained — the article's own author jokes about having to freestyle the description. Gold and blue, bold, and completely unexplained.
No acquisition route, no date, no confirmation it ever leaves Dungeons II. If it follows the Corrupted Creeper pattern it will surface through an event or partner promo. Worth watching, impossible to plan around.
Dungeons II onlyCould Mojang change its mind?
Possibly — and we would rather say that than pretend the situation is permanent. Mojang explicitly said it is "bringing both the Hero Cape and Twisted Cape to Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition", naming two out of five. That is a deliberate choice, not an oversight, and nothing in the current material suggests the other three follow.
What that means practically: do not spend money today on the assumption that a Dungeons II cape will show up in Minecraft later. Buy Deluxe because you want to play Dungeons II, not because you are collecting Minecraft capes. If the policy changes, it changes — but the $20 is spent either way.
Looking for capes that are actually gone?
Dungeons II capes are still obtainable. The ones whose windows closed for good — Copper, Follower's, Home, Menace and more — are what we stock, verified working before delivery.
