On September 30, 2025, Mojang shipped The Copper Age, the third free game drop of 2025 for both Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Java Edition. It brought copper tools and armor, copper lights, shelves, the copper chest, and a brand-new mob: the copper golem, a player-built companion that sorts items into chests. To celebrate, Mojang launched The Copper Cape Quest, a three-part worldwide community challenge, and the Copper Cape was its grand prize.
The three-part quest
The quest opened the same day as the drop. For the first challenge, the global community had one week (September 30 to October 6, 2025) to collectively summon at least 75 million copper golems, built in-game by placing a carved pumpkin on top of a copper block. Meeting that goal unlocked a Copper Golem Plushie item for Bedrock players, a Copper Chemist skin for Java players, and opened the next stage of the quest. Each stage gated the next, and only the final stage put the cape itself on the table.
How the cape could be earned
The individual earning window ran from October 13 (15:00 UTC) to October 20, 2025 (17:00 UTC) - a single week. Players had exactly three routes:
- Place a copper golem statue anywhere in any world, in any game mode - but only in Bedrock Edition. The cape was then granted automatically to the account within 30 days.
- Complete a WatchTime quest: watch 5 or more minutes of a Twitch partner or affiliate streaming in the Minecraft category, or 3 minutes of a Game-Reward-enabled Minecraft stream on TikTok, then redeem the earned code at minecraft.net/redeem.
- Attend The Copper Crown, an in-person event at the Minecraft booth at TwitchCon in San Diego, October 17-19, 2025, and claim a physical code card.
Why it can no longer be earned
Every earning route closed hard. Statue placements stopped counting at 17:00 UTC on October 20, 2025. Twitch and TikTok stopped issuing new codes the same day, and The Copper Crown event had already wrapped on October 19. Since then there has been no official way to earn the Copper Cape - it joined the ranks of Minecraft's retired promotional cosmetics. Codes secured during the window, however, remain valid and redeemable, as Mojang has consistently honored codes from its recent cape campaigns.
The design
The cape's texture is built around weathered copper: warm orange panels edged with the green-blue patina of oxidized copper, echoing the oxidation mechanic that defines the copper block family in-game. Worn with copper armor trims it reads as a complete set, which is exactly what Mojang intended - a badge for the players who were there during the week the Overworld turned to copper.
Can you still get the Copper Cape in 2026?
Not by earning it - the quest will not rerun, and Mojang has consistently kept event capes exclusive once their promotions end. The capes still in circulation come from players who completed the quest during the original window, and their codes remain fully redeemable. That is the niche MC Capers serves: we hold verified, working Copper Cape stock from the original promotion so collectors can still own one.
