When A Minecraft Movie hit theaters on April 4, 2025, Mojang and Warner Bros. wrapped the premiere in cosmetics. Three capes carried the campaign: the Home Cape on Twitch, the Menace Cape on TikTok, and the Yearn Cape inside Bedrock's Battle for Midport Village live event. The Home Cape was the "for the Earthling adventurers" half of the pair - a design inspired by Steve's love for the mines and the pull of home.

How it was earned

From March 18 to April 6, 2025, watching just three minutes of any Twitch partner or affiliate streaming in the Minecraft category triggered the "Minecraft Movie Cape Campaign" drop. Twitch delivered a 25-character code in its Drops & Rewards inbox, and the code was redeemed at minecraft.net/redeem against a Microsoft account. Once redeemed, the cape appeared in both Bedrock and Java Edition.

Mojang tweaked the cape's artwork twice in the first week - texture revisions shipped on March 20 and again on March 22, 2025 - so early screenshots of the cape don't quite match the final design collectors know today.

Why it can no longer be earned

The campaign was engineered to end with the premiere weekend: the drop switched off on April 6, 2025 at 5 p.m. EDT, exactly two days after the movie opened. No new codes have been issued since, and the movie's other capes closed on the same schedule (the Yearn Cape's live event ran slightly longer, until April 14). As with every Minecraft promotional cape, there has been no rerun and no marketplace release - the Home Cape's supply was fixed forever in those 19 days. Codes claimed inside the window remain valid and redeemable.

A cape that cost three minutes in March 2025 became permanently scarce by that same April. Movie tie-in cosmetics age like limited-edition posters: the film stays streamable, the merch does not.

The design

The Home Cape reads like a postcard from the Overworld: a warm doorway-and-mineshaft motif (often described as an earth portal) framed in browns and greens, the domestic counterpart to the Menace Cape's obsidian menace. Worn together with movie-era skins it marks a player as part of the film's opening-week audience.

Can you still get it in 2026?

You can no longer earn it yourself - the remaining supply comes from players who claimed it during the campaign, and those capes work exactly as they did on day one. MC Capers lists the Home Cape from verified original-campaign sources, checked working before delivery - see the Home Cape product page for live stock and price, and read the Menace Cape story for the TikTok half of the movie promotion.
