Every other cape story on this site ends the same way: the window closed, and earning one is no longer possible. This one is different - for a few more weeks. The Moonlight Trail Cape is the attendance reward of Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail, the official outdoor night event running at Ciudad Universitaria in Buenos Aires, Argentina from May 15 to August 2, 2026. Until that closing date, it is the only Minecraft cape in the world with an open earning route.
What Moonlight Trail is
Moonlight Trail is the open-air sequel to Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue, made by the same team behind the official touring experience. Instead of an indoor walk-through, visitors follow a beacon-lit trail through a life-size Overworld at night - biomes, mobs, and set pieces staged outdoors after dark. It is a timed-entry, ticketed event, and Buenos Aires is its first and so far only host city.
How the cape is earned
- Attend the event. Buy a ticket through the official channel and complete the trail - the visit is what qualifies you, and your ticket must be scanned on site.
- Receive your code. A unique, single-use 5x5 code is sent to the ticket holder's email within about 72 hours of the visit. One code per attendee.
- Redeem it. Enter the code at minecraft.net/redeem while signed in with your Microsoft account, and the cape attaches to that account.
Why it will be one of the rarest capes
Look at the walls around this cape. Geography first: you must physically be in Buenos Aires during the event window - for most of the world that means an international flight for a cosmetic. Then supply: codes are only generated for scanned, attended tickets, exactly one per visitor, and only for as long as the event runs. There is no stream drop, no online quest, no marketplace alternative. When the trail closes on August 2, 2026, code generation stops with it, and the Moonlight Trail Cape joins the ranks of capes that can never be earned again - with a supply limited to however many people walked the trail in those eleven weeks in one city.
The design
The cape carries the event's nocturnal identity - a night-sky palette that mirrors the moonlit, beacon-lit trail itself. Like the Villager Rescue cape before it, it reads as an attendance badge: anyone wearing it either walked the trail in Buenos Aires or knew someone who did.
How to get it
Two ways. If you can reach Buenos Aires before August 2, 2026 - go; earning it in person is the best route, and tickets are sold through the event's official channel. If a trip to Argentina is not happening, MC Capers stocks Moonlight Trail Capes sourced from attendees, verified working before delivery - live price and availability are on the Moonlight Trail Cape product page.
