For its 15th anniversary in 2024, Mojang split its celebration across the two platforms where Minecraft lives loudest: Twitch got the Purple Heart Cape, and TikTok got the Follower's Cape - a creeper face recolored in TikTok's black, red, and cyan. It was announced on May 15, 2024 and became earnable three days later.
The "super secret" comment
From May 18 to June 18, 2024, viewers who opened a Minecraft livestream on TikTok with Game Rewards enabled could claim a code. In most regions the ritual was famously simple: drop the comment "Minecraft" in the live chat (Mojang's own announcement joked about the creativity of that secret word), then tap the reward icon to claim the code. Some regions instead required a few minutes of watch time. The 5x5 code was then redeemed at minecraft.net/redeem.
The cape hit Bedrock Edition immediately and rolled out to all eligible Java Edition players on July 1, 2024. Officially, earned codes carried a June 30, 2024 deadline - though in practice it was never enforced, and codes from the window have continued to redeem.
Why it is rare
Thirty-one days, one platform, and a mobile-first mechanic that plenty of players never saw. The campaign only worked through TikTok's live-reward system, which meant three groups were locked out entirely: players in regions where TikTok is banned or its rewards program is unavailable, players without a TikTok account, and everyone who simply heard about it too late. When the window shut on June 18, 2024, new code generation stopped permanently - though codes earned inside the window have kept redeeming. Mojang has never re-issued the cape itself; the Follower's Cape belongs to the anniversary and stays there.
The design
The face is unmistakably a creeper, but the colors are unmistakably TikTok: the platform's glitch-cyan and red offset against black. It is one of the very few times another brand's identity has been woven into a Minecraft cosmetic, which gives the cape a crossover-collectible status similar to console-exclusive skins from earlier eras.
Can you still get it in 2026?
You can't earn it through TikTok anymore - supply comes from what players secured in the original 31-day window, and those codes remain fully redeemable. MC Capers stocks the Follower's Cape from verified sources, checked working before delivery - current price and availability are on the Follower's Cape product page.
