Minecraft Live 2026: The Sift, New Capes & the Missing Reveal

The Sift is coming to Minecraft. Does that mean a new cape? Catch up on the September Live announcements, confirmed rewards and the unanswered question.

A new dimension is a big reveal. A new cape is a separate question. Minecraft Live September 2026 gave cape collectors a reason to pay attention, even without a standalone Live cape announcement in the official recap. Here is the news to catch up on, and the unanswered question behind those “new Minecraft cape” searches.

What Minecraft Live actually revealed

Mojang’s September Live recap puts The Sift in Dungeons II first, then in Java and Bedrock in 2027. Dungeons II is scheduled for September 29. The show also previewed ice caves, icicles, ice crystals and a freezing zombie variant. Beyond those updates, it covered Minecraft World at London’s Chessington in 2027, creator tools, Marketplace sound packs and the October 27 Switch 2 release.

Those announcements are useful context for collectors: there are several upcoming moments when Minecraft will have everyone’s attention again. Each is a possible occasion for an event. None, by itself, is a promise that an event will include a cape.

The capes in this launch window

The official cape promotion page gives Hero and Twisted cross-game unlock paths. Hero requires the specified Dungeons I/II account activity by December 31; Twisted is a pre-order reward. Soul belongs to Deluxe Edition. Corrupted Creeper’s watch campaign ran September 21–26. Special Cape still has no published method: its entry says “Stay tuned”.

Update: Aurora Cape has now moved from speculation to a published reward route. Mojang’s follow-up launch promotion uses qualifying Minecraft Dungeons II Twitch or TikTok streams and grants a Java/Bedrock cape. Read our Aurora Cape guide for the watch-time rules, campaign window and redemption deadline. It is connected to the Dungeons II launch period, but it was announced separately from the main Live recap.

For the detailed account steps, use our Hero Cape guide and Twisted Cape guide. Keep the game name in mind when reading any offer: a Dungeons cosmetic and a cape in your Java profile are different claims.

Could the new dimension bring its own cape?

This section is our theory, not a leak. A dimension gives the art team a whole visual identity to work with. A cape could carry that identity outside the new area: a portal motif, a strange landscape or a creature silhouette would all make sense as design ideas. These are examples we are imagining, not designs found in game files.

The more interesting possibility is timing. When The Sift reaches the main game, a simple account challenge could bring Dungeons players and Java or Bedrock players into the same promotion. The current cross-game rewards show why that idea is plausible. They do not establish that Mojang has planned another one.

There is also a simpler outcome: the update ships with no cape at all. A new dimension can be the attraction on its own. It would be a mistake to treat the size of an announcement as a guarantee of a free cosmetic.

And what about Special Cape?

The empty space invites speculation. It does not connect Special Cape to The Sift. Until Mojang names a task and eligible games, we cannot tell whether it belongs to a launch promotion, a later event or something else entirely. Our Special Cape status page keeps that question separate from the dimension theory.

If you missed Corrupted Creeper

An earning window ending and an issued code expiring are different events. Check the terms attached to your code for its redemption deadline. Our Dungeons II cape guide and giveaway explains our separate code offer and the game it is for; the offer’s current availability is shown there.

What would turn a theory into news?

A named reward, an official acquisition method and a clear game-compatibility statement. Until those appear, there is no confirmed Sift cape to claim. That leaves a compelling question for the next announcement, without inventing an answer to it.
